Traditional Mulled Wine Recipe With Brandy and Cinnamon
Yields 4-6 servings
1 bottle red wine (suggested: cabernet, merlot, zinfandel)
1 orange (peeled and sliced; keep peel to add zest)
1/4 cup brandy
8 to 10 cloves
1/3 cup honey or sugar
3 cinnamon sticks
1 tsp. fresh ginger
Combine all ingredients in a large pot or slow cooker, adding orange zest to taste. Gently warm the ingredients on low to medium heat (avoid boiling) for 20 to 25 minutes. Stir occasionally, making sure the honey or sugar has dissolved completely. When the wine is steaming and the ingredients have been well blended, ladle into mugs (leave seasonings behind) and enjoy!
