Resort Roundup: 6 Resorts Opening in 2021

The new year is bringing in numerous resort openings, re-openings and renovations. Here are some of the latest resort and spa launches for 2021. 

1. Spa at Thompson Dallas

Opened on January 22, 2021, the Spa at Thompson Dallas will be on the 9th floor of the hotel and features five private treatment rooms, expansive dressing rooms, rainfall showers, steam rooms, infrared saunas, hot and cold plunge pools on the terrace, relaxation areas, a nail salon and the Thompson Style Bar. The spa will include a wide array of treatments for the face, body and mind, in addition to exclusive treatments combining ancient healing rituals with the latest products and techniques.

The spa was designed with serene color palettes and mid-century accents that have a modern twist. The entrance includes a custom-made brass reception desk, a series of back-lit oak wood fins spanning the wall, and walnut and glass floor-to-ceiling shelves that display the spa's products. 

Spa director Stacy Gill brings decades of experience to the Spa at Thompson, having previously been the spa manager for the Ritz-Carlton, Denver and The Four Seasons Hotel, Austin. Gill plans to bring a luxury approach to customer service while being a hands-on leader. “I’m thrilled to be a part of the Thompson Hotel family in opening their new Spa,” says Gill. “This will be a special place where a customer can come in for a quick 30-minute treatment or spend the day and walk away feeling rejuvenated. Our goal is to provide superior, luxury service and an overall wonderful experience to every guest."

2. Montage Healdsburg, Sonoma Luxury Resort

The Montage Healdsburg in Healdsburg, California, is pleased to welcome travelers and members back to with the recently lifted stay-at-home order. The resort is nestled amid 22,000 carefully preserved oak trees and vine-covered hills with expansive outdoor spaces. The 130 bungalow-style guest rooms feature a contemporary, wine-country aesthetic with environmentally sensitive design. 

Montage Healdsburg is also unveiling the Montage Residences Healdsburg, which includes private ownership property opportunity. There are 25 turnkey Harvest homes and 15 build-ready Estate homesites. The residential design blends into the contours of the land to emphasize privacy and indoor-outdoor living. 

The property's on- and off-site activities include road bike and e-bike rentals, bocce ball, pickleball courts, archery and a bee apiary. There is also Spa Montage, an 11,500-square-foot space with a zero-edge pool overlooking the resort's vineyards, family pool, dining options and Paintbox children's program. The spa features treatments and wellness activities that are inspired by the land. It has 11 treatment rooms, fitness facilities and the Yoga Lawn included in it. 

3. Fairmont Windsor Park

Fairmont will open its Windsor Park location in spring 2021, fitted with a comprehensive spa and well-being haven. The third luxury UK property has almost $200 million invested into it. The two-story, 27,000-square-foot wellness facility will include light and deep relaxation rooms, a Japanese foot bath, sauna, steamroom, ice fountain, pool and Jacuzzi. 

The spa's fitness center will include a group spinning studio, PT, physio, naturopath and osteopath services, TechnoGym wellness suite, mind body and yoga studio and reformer Pilates studio. The spa services include massages, facials, restoring rituals, energy work and life-limiting condition care.

The spa's wellness space bridges the gap between a traditional pampering spa and a well-being clinic. It features amenities such as: 18 treatment rooms, including three couples rooms, VIP Spa Suite with a rasul, hot tub, private dining area and dressing room, dry flotation room, Hammam, Himalayan salt relaxation room, Cryotherapy chamber, IV infusion space, complementary therapy room, colon hydrotherapy suite, outdoor courtyard featuring a hydrotherapy space and fire pit. 

The spa also offers an aesthetics clinic which includes a GP service, advanced aesthetic treatments, five treatment rooms, healing and well-being assessment solutions, 4D body-scanning and a vitamin infusion suite. The extensive offering will be completed with a wellness cafe, spa boutique, barbershop, hair salon, wet area and finishing studio for makeup services.  The spa will be directed by Lisa Barden, Arora’s spa and wellness director, consultant and former UK Spa Association chair.

4. Ramada Encore by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has expanded to Nepal with the 90-room Ramada Encore by Wyndham Kathmandu-Thamel. The hotel opened in early January 2021, and it is part of the rejuvenation project of the city's commercial center. 

Ramada Encore features contemporary room designs with comfort and accessibility in mind. The hotel offers guests various on-site food and beverage outlets as well as a rooftop plunge pool, spa and salon and fitness center. 

5. The Royal Park Canvas, Kobe Sannomiya

On January 21, 2021 Royal Park Hotels and Resorts opened the doors to The Royal Park Canvas, Kobe Sannomiya in Hyogo, Japan. The 170-room lifestyle hotel is designed to have an authentic environment that can connect guests to the culture. 

With its stylish interior, the new 170-room Lifestyle Hotel wants to appeal particularly to couples and families who appreciate a stylish though authentic environment and like to connect with the local culture. Both interior and exterior design of the hotel embrace images of the ocean and the mountains which are surrounding the city.

One of the hotel's prime features is an open structure, the CANVAS Lounge, which links with the terrace. A great space to start or finish the day, providing tea and coffee, it is open to hotel guests and locals alike and meant to stimulate exchange and communication. The hotel is also planning events open for travelers and citizens such as Jazz performances, since Jazz music came to Japan through Kobe, other music events and maybe classes in local handicrafts.

6. Omni Oklahoma City Hotel

On January 26, 2021, the Omni Oklahoma City Hotel opened with 605 guest rooms. The 76,000-square-foot property includes flexible meeting, event and pre-function space and sits caddy-corner to a streetcar stop, placing the hotel in the busting community of downtown. 

The hotel's design features elements that draw inspiration from the surrounding pastoral landscape of Oklahoma including layers of the earth and sky. It includes rustic, earthy tones that represent the prairie land and sunset. The guest rooms, ballrooms, common areas and spa all embrace textured walls and components of wood, metal and chevron patters to pay homage to the local industry. 

The hotel includes 605 guest rooms, 29 suites and the hotel's 17th floor was designed to cater specifically to professional basketball players featuring California King beds, larger door frames, taller ceilings and taller shower heads. 

The hotel's Mokara Spa has a fitness center and rooftop pool deck terrace. The spa features a tranquil relaxation lounge, head-to-toe treatments, sauna and nail services.
