Luxury hotel group Aman has created a nature-centric wellness retreat for Amanemu, a remote Japanese resort in Mie, located in a sprawling national park. The new retreat is a four-night program developed to help guests support their immunity by connecting with nature and experiencing the benefits of nature immersion, such as stress relief, improved sleep and a healing effect on the mind.
Guests will participate in daily forest-bathing and hiking excursions where they're guided through mountains and forests populated with sacred outdoor shrines. They will be also offered a choice of healing spa services, including an aquatic bodywork treatment, shiatsu massage, acupuncture or a blend of shiatsu and moxa.
The retreat also includes:
- A wellness cuisine meal featuring macrobiotic ingredients
- Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) experiences in the historical Kumano Kodo pilgrim route
- A Buddhist Zazen meditation and ritual led by a local monk, with traditional Japanese tea ceremony
- Unlimited use of the thermal springs and hydro facilities
- Usage of private onsen
- Usage of resort bicycles
