After a 2-year search for the right opportunity to create a world-class wellness resort, GOCO Hospitality announced its acquisition of the 85- acre Glen Ivy Hot Springs in the Temescal Valley of Southern California. Glen Ivy Hot Springs, one of the oldest and most esteemed hot springs in the United States, celebrated its 155th year in operation in 2015. A mecca for wellness seekers for over a century, Glen Ivy Hot Springs has entered its 156th year better than ever, with thoughtful renovations, expansions and program development that aim to put them as a top destination for tourists and Californians alike. Recognized as one of the best spas in America, Glen Ivy Hot Springs’ tradition of affordable value draws people from every walk of life.

For over 150 years, millions have come to Glen Ivy Hot Springs to relax and renew, to celebrate and socialize, and to feel a deeper sense of wellbeing. Glen Ivy Hot Springs attracts over 160,000 annual visitors, and is within an hour from Los Angeles or San Diego.
GOCO Hospitality CEO, Ingo Schweder, said, “I am delighted to add this historic California landmark to the growing GOCO Hospitality portfolio. We believe that Glen Ivy and the surrounding land offers endless potential, that correlates perfectly with our wellness hospitality philosophy and expansion strategy.”

Acquisition of the 20-acre hot springs and spa includes an adjacent 65-acre plot. GOCO intends to develop a world-class wellness resort community on this land surrounded by organic orchards, Santa Ana Mountains national preserve, and adjacent golf course. GOCO’s immediate investment of $5 million in to the property will be used to enhance the current hot springs spa and set the stage for future expansion. Touching on the hot springs storied past, GOCO intends to create overnight accommodations, as well as allow nighttime access.

Future plans for Glen Ivy Hot Springs include a 90-room GOCO Retreat with a comprehensive wellness center, a Medi-Spa, organic farm and retail village, hiking trails, additional hot springs bathing zones, an education center for holistic medicine and a real estate component with 125 residential units. GOCO Retreat’s integrated wellness programs combine conventional and alternative approaches that address the biological, psychological, social and spiritual aspects of health and illness. GOCO Retreats deliver a comprehensive range of services that are rooted in proven best practices that blend Asian traditions with contemporary Western medical science to give guests the ultimate wellness experience.

As Glen Ivy Hot Springs celebrates its 155th year, the corporation’s CEO and President, Jim Root, and all who work and serve at Glen Ivy, honor the spa’s rich history and look forward to a future of serving generations of Glen Ivy guests and providing memorable, meaningful and enjoyable experiences to everyone, every day. Embraced by mountains in this cathedral without walls, the sunlight shines, water flows, the garden thrives, and people enjoy it all and each other. Here both continuity and change are soaked in timeless values. It is Glen Ivy’s deepest nature to be a place of light and life, a warm and welcoming sanctuary where everyone can be who they are.
