For the team at Youngblood, the formula for a successful party seems to include the three Cs’: cosmetics, cake and cocktails. This rang true at the company’s exclusive in-store event at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, California, on August 23.

Guests of the sense-stimulating event feasted on sweet treats and beverages while mingling with Youngblood’s team of pro makeup artists, who were on hand to provide demos and makeovers using the company’s new fall line, “In the Mood for Nude,” a Parisian-inspired collection of neutral-toned eye shadows, eyeliners, lipsticks and blushes. Youngblood director of education Philip Luque provided a live makeup tutorial for the new line, with special guest Tara Buck—from HBO’s hit show True Blood—serving as his makeup model. After the demonstration, guests had the opportunity to hear from founder Pauline Youngblood via a short question-and-answer segment, in which Youngblood answered all audience inquiries ranging in topic from makeup tips to industry insights.

In the latter half of the afternoon, attendees indulged in a different kind of pampering as Youngblood and her team transported the party to the neighboring über chic eatery Hostaria del Piccolo, where guests were treated to delicious Italian fare and cocktails. The gathering ended on a high note: Each guest walked away with a gift bag containing a Youngblood makeup kit and the new fall collection. —Angela Melero
