Despite the many challenges related to COVID-19, wellness professionals and venues around the globe are actively preparing fun, free and meaningful activities (both on-site and online) for the fourth annual World Wellness Weekend (WWW), taking place September 19-20, 2020. The purpose of WWW is to connect people and encourage everyone to "Be Inspired. Be Well" via accessible and free wellness activities.
One major change happening this year is the theme: the democratization of wellness. WWW has adjusted its #WellnessForAll tag to #WellnessByAll in response to recent social distancing protocols happening due to the pandemic.
The event's 60 ambassadors and coordinators encourage people to register online and say where they'll practice their favorite activity that weekend, for examples, a city hike, yoga in a park, guided relaxation on a beach, a run or bike ride. They can also indicate a time at which they'll be practicing, so that friends, family, colleagues or locals can join them—six feet apart and wearing masks, of course—to practice together.
In so doing, WWW hopes to replace "social distancing" with "social wellness" between people who can practice wellness activities together, with a respectful physical distance.
WWW has participants around the globe. The Taj group of hotels has confirmed that 50+ hotels will spread the message of wellness and well-being to guests, associates and the community at large, showcasing the role of Ayurveda through on-site yoga sessions and video recordings of traditional healing modalities. Accor, Corinthia, Hilton, Jumeirah, Mandarin Oriental, Mandara, Marriott, Shangri-La, Six Senses and Waldorf Astoria properties will also provide on-site and remote workshops for associates, guests and local residents; and video tutorials, wellness tips and exercises in stunning surroundings to share their expertise and passion with the world. In addition, 20 Ananatara Hotels Resorts & Spas in 12 countries and 4 Avani Hotels will inspire guests and communities towards thoughtful choices for a better life.
WWW also has major partnerships with Mindbody, Les Mills and Planet Fitness, European Week of Sport, Wanderlust, BeFit, and Plantio Brasil, which will plant more than 600,000 trees in memory of those lost to COVID-19.
