We ask three spa pros how they cater to dads and grads come June.
Jana Powers spa director The Spa at Ballantyne Charlotte, North Carolina“We offer an Organic Male Grooming Bar inside our men’s lounge. It’s the perfect option for guys who want easy-to use skin care designed specifically for men—a full regimen is there, and they can try whatever steps they like, says Jana Powers. “For graduates’ friends and families, we promote our gift card as an ideal present for them—the recipient can pick any spa treatment or salon service they want, complemented by amenities including indoor and seasonal outdoor pools, fitness center and dining.”

Andrea Jenkins owner and esthetician Celebrity Skin Studio Litchfield Park, Arizona
“We like to title our treatments with fun and catchy phrases, and this month’s services for dads and grads are no exception! For Father’s Day, we’re featuring a Mansome Facial that includes a complimentary take-home shaving mask. This treatment is loaded with man faves: steamed towels infused with pure, clean scents like tea tree and bergamot, plus a scalp, neck and shoulder massage. It’s completed with the application of a matte sunscreen, which men prefer to a dewy finish. To make them feel at home, we provide men’s magazines in our waiting area and offer them a frosty root beer—always a big hit,” says Andrea Jenkins. “For grads, we’ve created the 4.0 Facial. It includes exfoliation but is extraction-free, as we don’t want to leave any marks on their faces. We also offer full makeup services to ensure they look stunning on their special day.”

Terry Prager director of spa and wellness Spa Villagio Yountville, California
“It used to be such a challenge to entice guys to come and enjoy the spa; today, men make up a much larger percentage of our clientele. They typically prefer deep tissue and sports massages, so we offer a holistic Tension Tamer service that’s very popular with our male guests. It focuses mainly on the neck and shoulders, and includes a scalp massage,” says Terry Prager. “Our male spa goers really like to spend time in the heated experiences, from the outdoor hot tub and sun deck to the lemongrass steam and dry sauna. Male graduates enjoy fitness massages, as well as our Men’s Rebel Facial, because many of them are dealing with acne.”
