Pelo West officially opened on December 1 at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. The urban luxury spa is owned by Louisville native Kaitlyn Hubert, an established expert and trend-setter in the spa, skin care and hair care industries.
Pelo West is Kaitlyn’s third spa and salon in Kentucky - Pelo Beauty Collective includes locations in Middletown and Lexington. A master cosmetologist with 15 years of experience, Kaitlyn worked in high-end salons in New York City and Los Angeles before returning to Louisville to open Pelo Middletown in 2021.

During the 2022 Kentucky Derby season, Kaitlyn and her team offered IV Hydration from a pop-up location inside the Galt House. After the successful experience, the hotel’s management approached Kaitlyn about opening a spa in the well-known Galt House.
“The Galt House holds a special place in my heart. Growing up in Louisville, my parents would take my siblings and me to the hotel to celebrate big occasions. I always thought it was so grand! Now, I bring my children and they love the charm as much as I do,” says Pelo West Owner Kaitlyn Hubert (pictured). “It’s an honor to bring a fresh face to downtown as the city prepares to host Derby 150. We look forward to offering relaxing, unique experiences to visitors and locals through our professional treatments delivered by a talented, diverse team of therapists.”
The vast experiences Kaitlyn gained from working around the country enabled her to bring fresh perspectives to her spas and salons in Kentucky. Decorative moss walls and local art from Jason M. Lois add to the swanky decor in Pelo. Bathed in shades of green, black, and gold, the 3,000-square-foot spa has four treatment rooms (including one for couples), three hair stations, mani & pedi areas, and saunas in the women’s & men’s changing areas.
"Pelo West reminds me of a salon where I worked in Manhattan’s West Village. The spa’s urban ambiance is unique in the Derby City. Pelo West’s upscale, yet comfortable atmosphere; talented team; and effective treatments & products will establish Pelo West as a downtown oasis,” explains Kaitlyn.
Eminence Organic Skin Care products will be used in facials. Hair care products include R+Co BLEU and two lines created by Kaitlyn, Tomboy Hair Care and Urban Wild Hair.
Pelo West is also giving back to its community as the presenting sponsor of the 2024 Down Syndrome of Louisville Gala Preview Party, which supports the dreams of individuals of all abilities through access, opportunity, education, and advocacy. The spa also collected donation items for SPARC Hope single parent resource center in Middletown and supports Twisted Pink's efforts and research into metastatic breast cancer.
