Composed by award-winning musicians and sound therapists, the concept features innovative generative music, creating unique compositions every time.

The SwellSpa treatment room sound therapy concept enables purpose-driven, end-to-end sound treatments that accommodate the customer's taste or are choreographed for the treatment menu, ensuring a distinct, unique and personalized sound experience every time.

The duration of the treatment can be adjusted on the go and the experience becomes more active as a result, raising the value of sound in the treatment room to another level with no copyright licenses required and presenting an alternative to passive, traditional background music playlists.

Users can access a range of therapeutic sound options designed to achieve specific outcomes: deep relaxation, emotional uplift, improved sleep or a closer connection to nature. The sound experience can also be offered via iPads in treatment rooms, personal listening stations in relaxation rooms and integration with the existing setup, vibroacoustic furniture and more. These are supported with workshops, training, onboarding and other services.

SwellSpa transports the listener to beautiful locations around the world through the power of sound, including forests and the sea from The Outer Hebrides to Ibiza, Nepal, Japan, Switzerland, Cape Verde and India.

Scientific Backing

Scientifically tested in partnership with Kinda Studios and Goldsmiths University, SwellSpa has been shown to deliver a range of health benefits: deep relaxation, cognitive insight, emotional uplift, increased happiness and connection with nature. Swell’s unique generative technology uses sound therapy, biophilic sound and binaural frequencies to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, reduce heart rate and boost mood.

The study in partnership with Goldsmiths University demonstrated that after 15 minutes of use, Swell’s soundscape significantly improves relaxation, lowers heart rates and increases Alpha brainwave activity, enhancing creativity and openness. Participants felt more connected to nature, with notable increases in Nature Relatedness (NR) and Nature Connectedness (NC), the key to well-being and pro-environmental behaviors.

Brian d’Souza said, “For too long, the sound played in spa treatment rooms has been overlooked, characterized by generic, mindless playlists that sit purely as a background experience. SwellSpa changes that by placing the power of sound therapy in the hands of the spa, and potentially even spa customers. We've spent three years developing the next-generation technology that delivers journeys not genres: purposeful, end-to-end sound experiences that can be perfectly choreographed to each treatment. SwellSpa is designed to be super simple and cost-effective - scientifically proven to deliver immediate results and we can't wait to share it with the spa industry.”

SwellSpa has recently collaborated with Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel in Glasgow, Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel in Edinburgh, Serenity Spa at Seaham Hall and ishga on innovative sound wellness projects.
