We all know that summer is the time when clients are vacationing, having fun in the sun while relaxing at the spa. It's also a great opportunity to add some vacay-inspired refreshments to the menu!
The Movenpick Resort in the Maldives has done just that, and resort bar manager Buddhika Perera has been kind enough to share the property's top five favorite cocktail recipes. These drinks create an elevated poolside experience for guests, and there are flavors for everyone—from sweet and fruity to bitter-sweet drinks.
1. Cool Summer
This drink gathers all the tropical flavors in one glass.
- 1.5 oz. Bacardi Superior rum
- 0.5 oz. Malibu
- 1 oz. coconut milk
- 0.5 oz. strawberry syrup
Pour the rum, coconut milk and strawberry syrup into the shaker tin with crushed ice. Add squeezed lime, basil leaves and shake it hard for 10-12 seconds. Strain over fresh ice in a tall glass. Garnish your cocktail with basil sprig.
2. Tropical Blue
This little blue sweetie channels an island in the tropics, the perfect blend of coconut, pineapple and rum.
- 1.5 oz. Absolut Blue vodka
- 0.25 oz. orange liquor
- 0.25 oz. blue curacao
- 1 oz. pineapple juice
- 0.25 - 0.30 oz. passion fruit syrup (to taste)
Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice, shake hard for 10-12 seconds and strain over ice in a clear tiki glass.
3. Jamaican Punch
This delicious drink needs just five classic ingredients to transport clients to warm Maldivian sunsets all year long.
- 1 oz. pineapple juice
- 1 oz. orange juice (without pulp)
- 1 oz. Bacardi Superior rum
- 0.75 oz. Captain Morgan dark rum
- 0.5 oz. grenadine syrup
Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice, shake hard for 10-12 seconds and strain over in a hurricane glass. Free pour dark rum on top. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and mint sprig.
4. Pina Colada
The classic laid-back poolside beverage, with ingredients that are also a pillar of the tiki drink canon.
- Bacardi Superior rum
- Coconut milk
Add ingredients to blender, with lots of ice. Blend until ice cold. Pour into a glass, garnish with a bright slice of pineapple wedge.
5. Beachfront Hold Up
A simple yet delicious recipe inspired by coastline relaxation.
- 1 oz. Pimms #1
- 2 oz. pineapple juice
- 0.5 oz. aperol
- 0.25 oz. lime juice
- 0.25 oz. passion fruit syrup
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into ice-filled glass. Garnish with a slight of pineapple wedge and leaves.
