The landscape of wellness is always evolving, with its scope expected to continue on its massive rise in recent years. With help from industry visionaries, we are projecting the wellness trends you should be excited for in 2025 and beyond.
1. Social Sauna Experiences
"As we approach 2025, wellness consumers are increasingly embracing community and holistic recovery through ancient sweat-bathing traditions that have stood the test of time. Social sauna experiences are transforming our approach to wellness, providing not only a space for relaxation, but also a dynamic social environment for connection and shared experiences. Alongside the rising popularity of hot/cold contrast therapy in sports recovery, these trends signify a profound shift toward integrated practices that promote both physical rejuvenation and social well-being."
-Matthew Williamson, chief operating officer, Design for Leisure
2. Individualized Approaches to Wellness
"Although wellness has boomed, it is predicted to continue its rise! Sustainable wellness seems to be the overarching topic. Getting well is one thing, but striving to stay well is completely different and takes on a unique meaning per individual. We will be looking at wellness with a broader 360 vision to incorporate all aspects of our life including longevity, healthy aging, menopause, pain and illness management, family and community wellness, and more. It will be incredibly important for the spa industry to continue seeking new ways to set their business apart. From seasonal wellness treatment variances, to customized experiential experiences, and more robust services, spas will need to innovate with the help of their vendors to stay competitive and build excitement. Standard offerings will be replaced with highly personalized and customized options, and we will see more resorts and hotels transition to comprehensive wellness centers and retreats offering curated approaches from check-in to check-out."

3. Sustainable Business Practices
“We are witnessing an inspiring shift as more businesses, resorts, and spas take significant steps toward sustainability, acknowledging that every small action contributes to a brighter future. Recognizing that it's crucial for all levels of business to engage in this movement by making intentional decisions based on best practices and maintaining a strong commitment to sustainable principles. By prioritizing education for both employees and consumers, we cultivate a culture of awareness and responsibility. Together, by minimizing our impact—from reducing our carbon footprint to mindful ingredient sourcing, packaging and operational processes—we empower ourselves to be active architects of the transformative change our planet urgently needs.”
-Maggy Dunphy, president, GSN Planet
4. Culturally Immersive Programming
“Wellness seekers are increasingly looking at enriching their treatment experiences with immersive and meaningful interactions with local cultures. Interest is shifting from cookie cutter therapies to those practiced by a specific culture in a specific region, thereby deepening personal growth as well as celebrating and connecting with local communities. Examples include the unique healing rituals performed by the Inuit elders of northern Canada, or the fire ceremonies practiced by the Maasai tribes in Eastern Africa.”
-Charné le Roux, independent sustainability expert, GSN Planet Board member
5. Products for Sleep Health
"On the rise are anti-wrinkle beauty pillows; some are better than others, so choose wisely. They really work to prevent 'sleep wrinkles', a.ka. wrinkles caused from compression onto a normal pillow when you sleep. They have gained a large following from celebs, dermatologists and medical estheticians."
-Tag Ceder, spa consultant & industry expert
6. Balancing The Power of Touch & Wellness Tech
"What we’ve come to recognize from the public is a genuine dedication to traditional hands-on services intermingled with a keen interest in advanced wellness based technologies for the best of both worlds. I believe people understand that in terms of spa treatments, there is no one thing that holds the key to wellness. While most love their hands-on treatments, they don’t want to let the high-tech boat pass them by and understand that it can boost the results of more traditional treatments. No doubt there is ever growing awareness around the idea that the most extraordinary change comes from nourishing and supplementing on multiple levels to promote support of the body’s inherent resources."
