Bioslimming Wrap (75 min./$180), Cleise Brazilian Day Spa, Chicago

Body Benefits: Tones, firms and flushes out fatty deposits.

Protocol Pointers: For clients seeking to slim down specific areas and tone trouble zones, this wrap promises to shrink those spots and minimize the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks. After taking measurements, the therapist applies a combination of Bioslimming Gel and Cream, and employs massage techniques with a Brazilian rubber roller designed to heat up the body and boost lymphatic drainage. The client is then wrapped—in saran, a layer of plastic, and then a blanket to keep warm—and treated to a foot or scalp massage. Next, the wrap is removed and the therapist applies a cooling gel for a tightening effect, then wraps the client up again for another 15 minutes, during which they get to enjoy turmeric and ginger tea with lemon and honey. “We’re famous for our tea,” notes spa owner Cleise Gomes. “It’s a digestive aid and enhances the wrap’s effects.” To conclude the service, the wrap is removed and clients are advised to avoid showering for the next four hours so that the products can continue to penetrate the skin and work their magic.

Rave Reviews: Results can be seen and measured immediately, according to Gomes. “Inches are gone and the slimming effect is obvious,” she notes. “It’s very popular before special occasions and events—clients know it really works!”

Body Benefits: Improves skin elasticity and minimizes discoloration and other signs of aging.

Protocol Pointers: According to founder Angela Horejs, this treatment is especially appealing to the 50-plus crowd, with clients typically opting to focus on areas where their skin has become loose and crepe-like, such as the upper arms, belly or buttocks. The client is cocooned for 20 minutes while they enjoy de-puffing eye pads and a scalp massage. “Depending on the guest’s preference, we remove the mask with hot towels or put them under a body jet shower, and then we finish that up with Pevonia Intensive Stem Cell Moisturizer to lock in hydration,” says Horejs.

Rave Reviews: Clients love the products used in this service, which helps drive retail sales and ultimately allows them to continue

Matcha Lemongrass Pedicure (60 min./$75), Philip Douglas & Co., Naples, Florida

Body Benefits: Exfoliates and hydrates the feet and lower legs Protocol Pointers: No summer service menu would be complete without a sweet treat for oft-exposed feet. That’s achieved at Philip Douglas & Co. with its most popular pedicure. As guests sip on a tall glass of matcha lemongrass iced tea, the experience kicks off with a soothing foot soak, followed by a thorough massage with Repêchage Matcha Lemongrass Scrub from the toes to the knees. “It’s absolutely delightful because the scrub is so zesty—it really wakes clients up with its citrus scent—and the seaweed and aloe are deeply nourishing,” says co-owner Doug Olsen. Next, the technician carefully tends to the cuticles and nails—trimming, fi ling and buffing as needed—prior to applying a super hydrating paraffin wax. The service concludes with nail polish, according to the client’s preference.

Rave Reviews: While women are typically the ones most likely to seek out this pampering pedicure, Olsen notes that it’s also a huge hit with male clientele. “They really appreciate the results—they’re no longer walking around with red, itchy, cracked feet,” says Olsen. “But my take is that they also like that the aromas aren’t too sweet or flowery, so they don’t smell like they fell into a bin of gardenias.” He adds that Floridians use lots of self-tanner, so it makes sense to offer plenty of exfoliation-focused treatments like this one. “The scrub keeps the tanner from going on streaky,” explains Olsen.
