Occupying a prime hillside position overlooking Virginia Beach, The Cavalier (built in 1927) recently reopened following an extensive $75 million restoration. Many original Neo-Classical features have been preserved, and rooms and suites incorporate historically precise materials in homage to famous guests and notable events from the hotel’s past. Among the additions is the 6,200-square-foot SeaHill Spa, which features nine treatment rooms, soaking tubs, a hydrotherapy room, steam, sauna, relaxation lounge, Himalayan salt room, full-service salon, and a retail boutique stocked with OSEA, Kerstin Florian, Themae, Jurlique, Dazzle Dry and Davines products.

Signature Service
Playing up its beachside location, the spa employs its Quartz Sand Massage table in several key Soak & Sand body therapies. These include the Ocean & Warm Sand Ritual (100 min./$290 Mon.-Thu.; $310 Fri.-Sun.), which encompasses a dry brush exfoliation, a soak in a seaweed bath, and a massage performed on the quartz bed. According to spa director Kelly Lanza, “The wild Gigartina algae detoxifies, and the quartz crystals naturally cleanse and rebalance the body’s chakras.” Scrubs and wraps take place in a Hydro Capsule, which contains a private Vichy shower and steam, and LED light therapy equipment.

Noteworthy
Among the couples’ offerings, a Bourbon Tea Nutria Body Wrap (120 min./$420 Mon.-Thu.; $440 Fri.-Sun.) infuses signature bourbon from The Cavalier’s new on-site distillery. A dry brushing precedes the wrap, then the duo gets to soak in a bourbon-infused tub while eating frozen grapes. An 80-minute side-by-side massage completes the treat.
