Global Wellness Summit Announces 2020 Agenda

The Global Wellness Summit (GWS) is rolling out a virtual option for delegates who cannot travel to The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida, to be at the 2020 Summit in person this November 8 to 11. It's an effort to highlight everyone's ability to stay connected and create the most inclusive, global event in GWS history. 

The GWS has announced a number of keynotes and panels that will take place indoors and be a model for a safe and healthy conference.

Panels and Speakers

The GWS will feature panels covering a range of topics: wellness technology, investing in wellness, brain health and resilience, wellness real estate and communities, diversity and inclusion, faith and wellness, wellness and the media, and more. In addition, the following speakers have been announced: 

  • Rick Stollmeyer, Mindbody
  • Michael C. Bush, Great Place to Work
  • Anna Bjurstam, Six Senses
  • Dr. Richard Carmona, 17th U.S.  Surgeon General and chief of innovation at Canyon Ranch
  • Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Modi, Modi Wellness
  • James Nestor, best-selling author of Breath
  • Louie Schwartzberg, cinematographer and founder of Moving Art
  • Shoshana Ungerleider, CNN reporter and founder of the End Well Project
  • John Kao, the Institute for Large Scale Innovation, who will deliver a “Keyboard Keynote,” playing jazz piano while discussing why “Wellness Is Ripe for Disruption”
  • Amir Alroy, Welltech1
  • Chris Rondeau, CEO of Planet Fitness
  • Ophelia Yeung, Katherine Johnston and Tonia Calendar, the nonprofit Global Wellness Institute’s (GWI) research team, will present this year’s groundbreaking report on mental wellness.

Resetting Sessions

Sessions, to be held outdoors on the resort's expansive grounds, have been designed to lead the industry forward. These brainstorming meetings will be held under the guidance of Anna Bjurstam, a wellness pioneer and co-chair of the GWS, who is also known for her creativity in business.

Topics will include:

  • Resetting hospitality
  • Resetting real estate
  • Resetting the workplace
  • Resetting fitness
  • Resetting beauty

Meet the Innovators

The first Tech Innovation Pavilion, in partnership with Welltech1 from Tel Aviv, Israel, will be launched this year. Delegates will take a deep dive into the world of wellness technology and have an opportunity to meet the innovators behind various world-changing technologies. 

In addition, the GWS just concluded the application portion of the “Call for Wellness Innovations” competition, with 80 companies submitting!

Distanced Disco Dancing!

GWS 2020 will feature plenty of fun activities as well, including:

  • The Hot Springs Initiative of the GWI will hold a “Global Soaking Event”
  • Distanced disco dancing, which will take place outdoors by the ocean
  • Resetting drive-in movies
  • Other daily programming
