Consumers are starting to act differently toward social media. The experts at beauty branding company Skaggs Creative have predicted how people, including spa guests, will be interacting with social media in 2022.
- Ignoring Social Media: Consumers are starting to ignore social media due to the large amounts false information, paid influencer campaigns and the stress it puts on self-image and mental health.
- Social Media Breaks: More people will be taking social media breaks and even signing off all together. There have also been reports of more young men and women seeking mental health assistance and treatments due to the stress that social media puts on them.
- Individualism Has Disappeared: “Individualism” has almost disappeared due to the pressure of looking and behaving the same way everyone else does. There seems to be one “ringleader/influencer” that decides what and how consumers need to dress, speak and behave socially.
- Shift Back to Traditional Media: Throughout 2022, consumers will revisit podcasts and radio as well as traditional or one-directional media, such as magazines, newspapers and other outlets.
